Current Phishing Campaign

Triware has received a number of reports of a SPAM / Phishing email being circulated with the subject line “Unpaid Invoic”. This email typically includes a malicious PDF attachment.

The Details

Phishing is the activity of defrauding an online account holder of financial information by posing as a legitimate company. Often the purpose of phishing campaigns or scams is to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.

Opening the PDF attachment included in the “Unpaid Invoic” email can lead to malicious code being installed on your PC or network. If you have a Triware managed Email Security Appliance, this email is being captured and highlighted as SPAM. However users are able to UNJUNK the email and run the attachment.

What Should You Do

If you are a managed support client of Triware, we are taking action and implementing procedures to address this threat. This has been happening throughout today and will continue.

Non-managed or non-contract based clients should ensure they adopt a strong patching strategy and sure desktop servers and security appliances are updated to the current patch level. Should you require assistance with this please contact your Triware representative.

If you have any questions please feel free to call or email Triware at any time.
